During your first physical therapy session, we will spend over an hour developing the ideal personal program to help you reach your goals! Your therapist will perform a comprehensive evaluation assessing your mechanics, strength, limitations, alignment/posture, gait, pelvic floor function and more. Then they will educate and guide you through your own personal Home Exercise Program (HEP) so you can start taking the steps to reach your goals on day one! NOW offered via in home visits AND Telehealth!
In our follow-up physical therapy sessions,your physical therapist will assess your progress and remaining/current impairments before utilizing multiple modalities such as: patient education, therapeutic exercise, posture correction, manual therapy, behavioral interventions, kinesiotaping and more, depending on your individual body needs!
For new patients, after you have had the "all-clear" from your OB-GYN or midwife for exercise around the 6-wk mark, it is necessary to also get cleared by a Pelvic Health Physical Therapist. As we more evaluate the function of your pelvic floor and core system and it's ability to perform during your daily demands. Your therapist will examen your tissues for appropriate healing, strength, control and presence of scar tissue/trigger points/pain/prolapse/DRA/hemmorhoids/hernias. This will make sure that you safely return to sport/exercise and avoid any injury, pain or incontinence.
Even without any symptoms during pregnancy or postpartum this assessment is crucial to making sure you're progressing and healing appropriately, but if you are already experiencing any of the following during pregnancy or 6 wks after birth than this visit is A MUST for you:
