Specializing in women's health & pelvic floor physical therapy. Helping women find BALANCE throughout every stage of life!
During your first physical therapy session, we will spend over an hour developing the ideal personal program to help you reach your goals! Your therapist will perform a comprehensive evaluation assessing your mechanics, strength, limitations, alignment/posture, gait, pelvic floor function and more. Then we will educate and guide you through your own personal Home Exercise Program (HEP) so you can start taking the steps to reach your goals on day one!
In our follow-up appointments we will utilize multiple skills and modalities such as: postural/alignment correction, manual therapy, internal pelvic tissue mobilization, specialized exercises, kinesiotaping and more depending on your individual body needs! We will review your home program and progress as appropriate. (6 and 10 visit packages also available for a discounted rate)
I wish someone would have told me that there is more to prenatal care than just seeing your OB or midwife and taking your prenatal vitamins. PT is crucial for not only staying active and pain-free throughout your pregnancy, but also to help prepare your body and mind for birth so that you can have an empowered experience with reduced risk of complications and delivery times! If you are told "it will go away after the baby comes" get another opinion! Sadly many women, and even practitioners do not know of the amazing benefits of physical therapy during pregnancy.
After you have had the "all-clear" from your OB-GYN or midwife for exercise around the 6-wk mark, it is necessary to also get cleared by a Pelvic Health Physical Therapist. As we more evaluate the function of your pelvic floor and core system and it's ability to perform during your daily demands. Your therapist will perform a thorough internal pelvic exam to assess your tissues for appropriate healing, strength, control and presence of: scar tissue, trigger points, pain, prolapse, DRA, hemmorhoids, hernias. We will make sure that you safely return to sport/exercise and avoid any injury, pain or incontinence.
If you are free from pain, limitations, incontinence etc, it's still a great idea to have a yearly check up with your women's health Physical Therapist in order to keep an eye on your bodies functional capacity before there is an issue! Think about it, we bring our cars in for oil changes regularly and see our dentist and physician once a year, so why not get a tune up before you are having a hard time walking or peeing your pants?! YOU DESERVE IT!
Spend up to an hour or more with Dr. Cassell working on your individual impairments and limitations to reach your goals!
With her background in Orthopedics and her current focus of Pelvic Floor, Dr. Cassell not only treats orthopedic conditions in addition to pelvic floor dysfunction, but she is always assessing the whole body and how it works as a system to help find the root cause of your symptoms and not just a bandaid solution.
We offer in-person visits at our clinic location, but also through our mobile clinic and Telehealth services! Receive your therapy in the comfort of your own home, a park, a pool or wherever YOU want! The same high quality care without the risk of exposure and the convenience of not having to leave your home or find a babysitter!
